From September to December, Sven stayed at the Goethe Institute in Kyoto, Japan. The aim of his stay at the Villa Kamogawa was to research the complex ecology of Japanese wood fabrication. Starting from the “Treatise on Architectural Methods or State Building Standards” Yingzao Fashi from the Chinese Song Dynasty, he studed traditional and contemporary wood fabrication methods and their impacts on Architecture and society. During his stay, he met with researchers, fabricators and craftsmen and give several talks at architecture schools and institutions.
