Architecture is commonly defined as the direct opponent to climate, which presents a physical, but also a psychological threat: Architecture as shelter from rain, heat and wind. An alternative point of view may point towards the importance and meaning of climate for architecture: climate “localises” architecture and makes it complex and unpredictable. The studio at the msa muenster school of architecture examines the impact of these conditions on urban patterns and architectural typologies. As both cities are situated along 51,9°N latitude, the same weather conditions will become the context of the project.
